Dom

Three months ago I made the conscious decision to move out of my parents house and into a pad with two of the chillest dudes, including Dom. We go way back from our PUC days, but it seems that he’s always been one of my go-to’s for shooting whenever the creative juices are lacking. Whether it be a quick line, montage, or a conceptual edit, he’s always game to skate while I follow with the camera. The following are edits I have shot of him in chronological order. You could totally see the progression of my camera work and his skating.

Shot in wine country where a small town called St. Helena lies and where the best times of my life took place, I like to think, was where it all started. This edit was where shooting started becoming consistent and productive for me. This was before Snapchat, Instagram, and even SoundCloud became relevant (The last scored track was my  first beat I ever sampled and was the first track I posted on SoundCloud). It’s crazy to see where social media has taken accessibility of sharing original creative content.

R.I.P. Skater Crater

Skater crater was a hidden water reservoir that was a source to nutrient the surrounding orange groves in the Redlands area. Usually littered with debris and spray cans, there was a year where Skater Crater became cleaned out to become a skate spot where a mini 1/4 pipe, mini rail, and kicker stood. I was fortunate to shoot numerous times here when Skater Crater was at it’s peak of street art and served as an actual skate spot. Like most cool spots as this, it became burned due to teenager gatherings and such. This past year or so, the spot got filled in by concrete by the city.

These two were both conceptual edits on a skater’s perspective that pretty much speak for themselves. I’ve always been drawn to the fact of how obstacles are creatively noticed in everyday architecture and urban landscape by someone who’s on wheels.

This is the latest edit we shot this past year. A quick line of Dom doing a back 180 into a half cab nose with Scott standing aside with the stills.
