NOLA // Bryan’s Bachelor Trip

This platform is past neglect and it’s killed me inside.
A lot has happened since my last post and to share a few things abridged: My car got stolen, I picked up a full-time job, and these past three months I haven’t traveled this amount of miles in my entire life.

I’ve been climbing a ton and still finding inspiration whenever I can.
While my travels are finally coming to a close, (I’m currently writing this in Manado, Indonesia in a darkened hotel room, btw.) I believe the time is now for me to prioritize my creative efforts.

Here’s a photo journal of my trip to “Nawlins” for my brother, Bryan’s, bachelor celebration.

Once we landed the first order of business was food. After scouring Yelp for locations next to our Airbnb, we found a spot walking distance from where we were staying. The place reeked of vomit, but the food was a southern delight and unexpectedly bombie, bruh.

We looked like foreigners since most of us, if not all of us, might as well have been asian.
This lady I took a portrait of was the first to welcome us in her red dress. She laughed and stated, “Hah! ‘Yall aren’t from here, where y’all from?” She’s a photographer and snapped a photo of us outside, asking us to add her on Facebook so that we can retrieve the photo. She had marketing tactics. No one added her though.

This guy had a voice of a gawd.

Overall, New Orleans was swampy, smelly, and humid, however was enriched with culture through their food and music. Jazz is and will always be a part of me and New Orleans. It is a dying breed of music, especially among my generation where it’s not the first choice most people would blast in their car, not to mention the lack of jazz clubs / bars nowadays in comparison to the past. Yet the beauty of Nawlins is that Jazz is all around you and the people will forever admire it.

I probably won’t go back to New Orleans for quite sometime, yet a culture in which is instilled with my favorite type of music may draw me back sooner than expected.

Shoutouts to the best men, Sam & Richard, for organizing a successful trip. Congrats to my boy, Bryan, for cracking open a new chapter in his life. I’m truly humbled to be one of the groomsmen and included into this epic trip.
